How Shopt collects, uses and protects your information.

Shopt is an online enthusiast car insurance quoting service and a program of Covenant Underwriters LLC, a licensed insurance agency located in Chapin, South Carolina ("Shopt," "we," "us"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use Shopt (getshopt.com and the quote form at www.cov4u.com/shopt.a5w), how we use and share it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Information you give us. Your name, date of birth, gender, e-mail address, mobile phone number, and physical and mailing addresses; details about your vehicles (year, make, model, VIN, value, where they are kept and how they are used); details about the drivers in your household (names, dates of birth, license information, driving and claims history); the coverage you choose and any notes you send us; and, when you ask us to bind a policy, the photos and documents you upload and your payment details.
Information from others. With your consent, the insurance companies we quote with may obtain consumer reports such as motor vehicle records and claims history. We also use outside services to confirm that addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses are valid.
Information collected automatically. Standard web server information (such as IP address, browser type and the pages you visit) and how you arrived at Shopt (for example the referral link or advertisement you followed). Your browser may store a small amount of information so you can continue a quote where you left off.
How we use your information
To request and compare quotes from insurance companies on your behalf; to contact you about your quote request by e-mail, phone and, if you agreed, text message; to bind and service a policy you choose; to prevent fraud; to meet our legal and regulatory obligations; and to improve Shopt.
How we share your information
Insurance companies. We share the information needed to quote, underwrite and issue coverage with the insurance companies we request quotes from for you (such as American Collectors Insurance, Grundy, Hagerty and OpenRoad).
Service providers. Companies that host our systems, deliver our e-mail and text messages, verify addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses, or otherwise help us operate Shopt. They may use your information only to provide those services to us.
Legal reasons. When required by law, regulation, subpoena or court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our customers and our business.
We do not sell your personal information.
Text messaging (SMS)
If you agree to receive text messages, we use your mobile number only to send messages about your quote request and policy. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties, except the service providers that deliver our messages. Payment information
Payment details you provide to bind a policy are stored encrypted, are visible only to authorized staff, and are used only to process the policy you asked us to bind.
How we protect your information
We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and restricted staff access. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to those who need it.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as needed to provide our services and as required by insurance record-keeping laws and regulations.
Your choices
You can stop text messages by replying STOP and unsubscribe from e-mail by contacting us. You may ask to review or correct the information we hold about you by contacting us at the address below. Some information must be kept to meet legal requirements.
Insurance privacy laws
As an insurance agency, Covenant Underwriters LLC follows the federal and state insurance privacy laws that apply to the personal information of insurance applicants and policyholders.
Children
Shopt is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 except as a listed driver on an adult applicant's quote.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above shows when it was last changed.
